Saving a loved one: Project Lifesaver keeping elderly on the radar
SARDIS RESIDENT Denver Bowen, pictured above, is one of many local Alzheimer patients that has taken advantage of Project Lifesaver.
IF YOU have ever lost track of a child or misplaced something you know the feeling of lost inside and it’s no different for Sharon Bowen of Sardis. The wife of an Alzheimer patient, Denver, she is very cautious about her husband’s well-being as his disease has overtaken his body for two years now.
The disease is commonly related to having short-term memory loss with later symptoms including confusion, anger, mood swings, language breakdown, long-term memory loss and general withdrawal of his or her senses decline.
However, Bowen can sleep easier these days as she recently got involved in Monroe County’s Project Lifesaver, an international organization with the primary mission to locate and rescue missing persons. In conjunction with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Area Agency on Aging, Denver Bowen has enlisted in this life-saving program.
