Take a seat
Auctioneer Bob Hagedorn will conduct the Take A Seat Benefit Auction on August 3. Guests can preview the chairs beginning at 2 p.m and the live auction is set for 3 p.m.
WHEELING - Please, take a seat. This common phrase used to welcome guests and offer hospitality will be expressed in a more literal way as Oglebay Institute presents its Take A Seat Benefit Auction Sunday, August 3 on the front lawn of the Mansion Museum in Oglebay. Featuring an auction of vintage chairs, footstools and –even a saddle- hand-painted by local artists, this community event celebrates creativity and benefits arts programming at the Museum and the Stifel Fine Arts Center. “We want folks to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a beautiful summer day appreciating the many talented artists in our area,” Christin Stein, Oglebay Institute museums director said, “Of course we’d love for our guests to, literally, take a seat home with them. But we encourage everyone-even those who don’t want to bid – to join in the fun.” Approximately 20 artists donated their time, talent and creativity to transform chairs of all shapes and sizes into one-of-a-kind works of art.
