Greenwood hired as new UL girls basketball coach
Drew Greenwood was a standout basketball player during his prep days at Barnesville High School.
He’s hoping his head coaching career goes as well as his playing career did after being hired recently as the new head girls basketball coach at Union Local, replacing Marci Bonar at the helm.
“I am really looking forward to this opportunity,” Greenwood said.
Greenwood expects the adjustment to the girls’ game to be a smooth one.
“I don’t think it will be a tough adjustment,” Greenwood said. “There are often times where coaching girls has more bright spots than boys because they are sometimes more coachable and their work ethics are better, but it’s definitely going to be a little different.”
Greenwood, 28, cut his coaching teeth at Harrison Central as an assistant to highly-successful boys coach Donnie Madzia and he also served as the Huskies’ head track coach.
