Niekro Scramble proclaimed yet another success

June 28, 2008

The annual Niekro Golf Scramble to benefit the Bridgeport Education Assistance Foundation went off without a hitch again Friday at Belmont Hills Country Club. A full field of 38 teams took part in the event, which has raised more than $53K since its inception 10 years ago. The team of Chad Baugh, Ryan Mellott, Mike Stack and Chris Baugh claimed the open division, which Chris Baugh predicted to this writer before the round began Friday morning. Finishing second in the open division were: Josh Grover, Chris Cores, Brian Butcher and Eric Bowman. In the all Bridgeport division — which can include Bulldog alumni, employees or retired employees — the team of Donnie Cash, Doug Tush, Anthony Reasbeck and Ron Gill captured that crown. The team of Randy Mellott, Schambach, John Timko and Mike Dalton finished second in that division. No holes in ones were recorded.
