Ohio 149 work advancing

July 24, 2008

Recently the Ohio Department of Transportation began work on the largest road project to hit Bellaire since the competition of Ohio 7, with the start of  the $5.7 million construction of a new Ohio 149 that is expected to make the village more accessible to traffic.
While preparation work and environmental studies have been taking place for the past few years, the actually project officially started on July 14 and is expected to be completed on June 20, 2010.
According to ODOT the first items of work include the mobilization of equipment, clearing and grubbing, the erection of erosion control, and construction of a temporary road from the cul-de-sac on Commerce Park Drive to the public ball fields on 26th Street. Additionally, 26th Street will remain open as a temporary, one-way road to Washington Street.
The new 1.4 mile road will be located in the area of 26th Street.
